Individual Therapy
What is Individual Therapy?
Individual therapy is the most common form of counseling. You will work with a therapist, meeting regularly to explore your feelings, life experiences and any personal or work challenges you are currently experiencing. Individual therapy is a unique process that can help you address life when you are feeling stuck and increase your awareness of how you interact with the your environment and how you perceive these interactions. Think of therapy as a one sided conversation with a friend, where you get to complete a whole thought without someone jumping in and talking about their own experiences.
Is Individual Therapy Right for You?
People are often hesitant to willingly go to a stranger and talk about the problems they face. It is scary and uncomfortable, which causes people to believe it is better if they face their issues on their own. Sometimes, we cannot do it alone, and there is no shame in asking for help.
People who seek out therapy with me often struggle with:
Anxiety
Struggling with interpersonal/marital relationship(s)
Work Stress/Academic Stress
Feeling stuck in life
Going through a life transition
A desire to work through underlying personal issues
Adolescent/Teen therapy
Couples Therapy
What is Couples Therapy?
Couples therapy is joint counseling for you and your partner. The therapist sees both of you together in order to facilitate healthy communication and to identify harmful patterns of relating to each other. Working with a therapist can help you both gain a deeper understanding and insight into what your partner is going through and how to express what your needs are and support meeting your partner’s needs.
Is Couples Therapy Right for You?
All relationships face conflict and difficulty at times, its a normal part of life and relationships. When you and your partner are having the same argument over and over, if you worry your relationship might be over, if you and your partner are seeing the future in different ways, if someone has lied or been unfaithful, if you are struggling to make decisions about big life events (i.e. having children), it might be time to reach out for support.
Here are the types of couples therapy I offer:

Family Therapy
What is Family Therapy?
Family therapy allows family members (all members or subgroups of the family) to come together with a skilled and professional therapist to address issues that are creating turmoil, stress, apprehension and/or exasperation within the family unit. When issues are not addressed or continue to transpire, distrust and apprehension create a tension within families that makes it hard to co-exist. If you and your family are experiencing antagonistic dynamics that are impacting your daily life and functioning, family therapy may be beneficial to you all.
Is Family Therapy Right For You?
Family therapy is designed to support families in coming together to work collaboratively with one another. The therapist is there to help facilitate productive conversation and be a translating support that allows everyone to be heard and feel heard. With the support of the therapist, families learn how to interpret verbal and non-verbal communication styles in order to better understand one another, which allows families to reconnect and trust each other.
Common Problems Typically Experienced by Families:
Frequent Arguments
Difficulty Communicating
Behavioral or Academic Concerns
Sibling Conflict
Defiance
Teen Challenges

Consultation
Therapy is most productive when the client and the therapist have a trusting relationship. That begins with feeling comfortable with your therapist. Although trust will not grow over night, liking the person you are talking to can make a world of difference. And if you are new to therapy, or just would like more information it’s best to speak directly to someone. For these reasons and more, I offer a free 15 minute consultation.
